Hi all,
Just recently my machine has developed some wow and flutter. It's only barely noticeable but, it's there and will only get worse.

Any ideas on the possible cause?

Is it easily fixed?

Michael, I had the same problem on the RM-1 I use. I bought it off eBay and when it arrived it had this slight wow to it.
I replaced the belts and took off all the rollers and cleaned their shafts etc but the problem remained.
What I eventually found was that the slipping clutch adjustment on the rear take-up arm was adjusted up quite tight and was therefore putting some strain on the mechanics of the machine.
I removed the cover to take a look at the cork liner and this was very warn. I had noticed in the meantime that the machine was having difficulty taking up a complete 1600ft reel, it was tending to get jerky when the spool was getting full.
Anyway I replaced the cork liner with some new cork and all has been ok since. It also meant that the adjustment could be slackened off some what which now puts less stress on the mechanics and cuts down any wow.

By the way I couldn't get any official Eiki cork strips so ended up buying a meter square of 1.5mm thick cork sheet and cutting from that a new strip. I obviously now have enough to repair the worlds Eiki/Elf's [Big Grin]

Hi Kevin,
Thanks for your reply.
I need to open up the back and take a good look at whats going on in there. I'll do that in the next few days.

oh, yes it is the disatvantage nowadays.
You have to order min. quantity and it last for ages.
For special oils I had to order 20 liter cans and for Siemens 2000 asbest-free replacement sheets I had to bay 5 squaremeters.
Some bearings have to be bought in bulk of 100 bearings each size.
