I would be interested to read any comments, good or bad from anybody that has any experience with this model projector. Thanks!

Barry, I have a couple of these projectors. Because they weigh so much I am not using them right now, but they are great machines. Built like a tanks. Manual load. Nice loud tube amps. Metal, metal, and more metal parts. Separate speaker cabinet. If it sits in one place and you don't have to lug it around, it is perfect.

One of mine works, but the other needs restoration.

Thanks Dan. There is one available locally with the separate speaker for a reasonable price. Otherwise, shipping would kill me. I'm sure it would need new caps.

I'd say once you cap the amp, if it needs it, you will have a life time projector.

Update: Bought it, love it! But Dan, you were correct. Heavy, Heavy and more Heavy! Beautifully engineered.

Barry, you gotta' love those 6L6 power tubes in that amp. This baby needs no external amplification. If I ever get to build a walk in booth I'm going to use my PG-102. One move and one move only. [Big Grin]

Nice pix, Barry. Did you get the amp capped and cleaned up? Have you shown any films yet?

Hi Dan: I've not had the amp worked on yet. I've sent the tubes out for testing and waiting to get them back. I've got a Super Stylist out being rebuilt now and when that gets back will most likely do this one although I've been told the caps are about 30-40 bucks each! I've run film through it and it runs like a dream. Are any of yours olive green like this one is? I've been told most are brown. There is some speculation this may have been a unit for the military. Note the straps for the reel and reel arms in the speaker case. Definitely a military flavor.

Yes, the PG-201's had a green crackle finish with a brown leatherette case. I grew up with one, my father had bought it and every Wednesday night was movie night.

Hi, I have a quick question! I noticed you were discussing the RCA PG-201 model projector. I've recently found what I believe to be that very projector. From what I can find on the internet at least. I've always been interested in photo and video, digital and film. So, when I had the chance to get one for $20, I took it. It's in fairly decent condition, but the reels and arms that hook to it are missing. It seems to work fine, the main light bulb is burnt out, but otherwise, it runs, very quietly, but it does function. Granted... I have no film to test it. I have experience with film cameras, but projectors are new to me. I just kind of happened across this one in an old thrift shop.

So, now I don't know anything about them, and really can't find much information, especially this particular model. Help... anyone? Any info will be super helpful!
