Hi!

I just got an Eiki RT-2 in the mail, I've got to say that it looks extremely well built! and that's because it is, and it's easy to work on, compared to my Singer 2210 it is like another world!

When I got it the lamp would not work, I quickly found out that the lamp socket had corroded, and after fixing that the light worked, then I thought I could put on a film, the first 16mm film I got: Woody Woodpecker Termites from Mars [Razz]

I started the projector and the film just dropped down on the floor, because the film-reel started spinning, after examining the problem I found out that the pulley containing the ratchet needed oiling, after oiling that it runs like new! my guess is that it has not been used for 20-30 years.

This is the first 16mm projector I ever have started! so I'm a bit enthusiastic [Big Grin]

Hi Thor

If your machine hasn't been used for so long then it probably needs a good lubrication to many of the moving parts. Find a chart showing the points to oil and also the cam tank will probably be dry inside. It has a big felt wiper inside that needs to be soaked in oil to lubricate the cam and claw. Removal of a small cover screw on the top of the tank will allow oil to be dropped onto the pad through the hole. Put in about 20 drops of fine machine oil to prevent friction wear occuring at the cam and claw.

Congratulations, Thor, on your first 16 mm machine! I know the feeling, I picked up my first one, a B&H TQIII 1695 that came from a shop in Stavanger that was selling out old film related goods.

Fun lil' tidbit, "Termites from Mars" was the first film I got for it aswell [Big Grin]

Thank you! its not really my first 16mm machine since I got a Singer also, but I wrongly thought that it could be converted to 230V 50Hz, but thats the 2211 not the 2210... [Roll Eyes]

but of course its the first one I ever have used [Smile]

The first film you got was also Termites form Mars? what a coincidence! [Eek!]

Do you know if 16mm films is hard to find in antiques shops or similar in Norway? I have not tried yet [Smile]
