The 601 series are hard on films
I have just received a PM from a member who asks for my answer to the above comment which was made by a member on 12 February 2008.

I must admit that I don't really know what the writer means by his comment. I used a 601 for many years in a Film Society in the 1960s and it always ran quite happily. I have here in my collection its later brother, the single case 8636 (the mains AC/DC model) which always runs well. No problems or criticisms.

However, if a member is contemplating purchasing a blimp model Bell & Howell I should remind them that the 750watt lamps and the available lenses don't give a very brilliant light.

I sent you the PM, and thanks for your answer. I don't remember who made the statement, and it would take a while to search the post again.

I agree with you about the light output, even with a 1,000 watt bulb, the light is very poor at 16fps.

To get the real answer is to ask the member who made the statement, and if he reads this he may like to respond, but I see no point in mentioning his name.

Maurice, your answer is perfectly satisfactory to me.
