Hello

I recently picked up a Eiki SL O for free off craigslist. Its very dusty and the clips are broken off used to attach the back cover.Someone just duct taped it now there's residue

How do I clean the dust inside the projector and get the duct tape residue off?

How can I replace the clips?

Thanks
Brian

Brian, metal polish wadding is good at getting rid of stick residue. You often find that if you buy a CD, the price tag or barcode label leaves stickiness, wadding dissolves this, then I just go over again with mr sheen. However, be careful and try a small area, I don't want to be responsible for defacing your machine.

Try to remove the much dust as you can with a vaccum cleaner (or a hoover, I never remind when there are two words for the same things which one is used in UK and the other in US). There are small accessories (it is very cheap) that you can adapt on the tube to access to small or difficult to access parts. Of course, be carefull. After that you can use a classical air spray but pay attention as some of them are not intended for photographic lenses (it's written on it). To remove residues of tape, try vinaigar, otherwise they sell special products at the drugstore.

Brian, there is a product called "Goo-Gone" it works wonders on residue, I have used it to get the goo off prints that the tape has left behind. As far as the dust inside the unit try a can of compressed air or if you know someone that has a air compressor try that but use very little compressed as too much power may damage circuits, both products should be available in your local hardware or walmart store. as far as the clips go let me look at mine to see how they are attached and get back to you. good luck

The very dusty Eiki was wiped down and cleaned the gate with alcohol, the previous owner didn't take care of it and just let it collect dust

Lee is kindly giving me a takeup reel

I purchased a new takeup belt

I was able to screw metal hinge in so the door closes good to access the motor.

Next get some goo gone then try it out on film
