A few weeks ago projector repair man Kevin Brown was recommended to me on the forum. I hadn't previously heard of him. I've just bought a Bell and Howell 655 TQ1 from him, with a new worm and fitted at my request with a three-bladed shutter. I just wanted to add my own to others' recommendations: a really nice guy who I would highly recommend for any projector repairs you might have. His website is:

Maurice, I gather you're picking up a whole stable full of serviced machines from him today!

He also kindly had a look at my BH2692 and told me that the takeup was fine, it must have been a combination of a plastic spool with a warped film that was giving me a loose takeup.

Now that I have the TQ1 I am going to sell the 2692 (can't justify having three 16mm machines - I also have an Elmo 16F), so if anyone is interested in a nice, very late Bell and Howell machine, PM me for more details (worm gear is good). I'm looking for £100 for it.

Everyone I know who has utilized the services of Kevin have been very satisfied with his work including, as the testimonials confirm ,a friend of mine Robin Moss and of course, our very own Maurice and Kevin.

I know that Bill is the guy on Elmo's, his particular speciality...and he has a huge inventory of spares for these machines, but for any other type of projector, why not give Mr Brown the opportunity to service or repair your lovely machines?

Just back from Nottingham and Kevin. Took four projectors and brought back four (not the same!!).
Kevin is a wonder and I have been using his services for many years with complete satisfaction.

Great stuff Maurice, and one has to take their hat off to you making such a long journey, as often as you do it, all for love of your wonderful machines!
You are truly one of THE most dedicated collectors I know Maurice. [Smile]

Thank you for your kind comment Andrew. I don't believe in having projectors just to look at on a shelf, they must work. Kevin helps me keep them that way.
I use each projector in turn and keep a log, this ensures each one gets used about once a year.
It's 135 miles each way. But mainly motorways. M5. M42. About two and half hours. I wouldn't trust a courier with my collection. Films yes, projectors no.

As said, I can sincerely only doth my cap in respect to you Maurice and hope you may continue to do the same each year to gain your enjoyment from the hobby for many many years to come.

Truly inspirational to us all Maurice.
