Has anyone got any genius ideas about alternative storage for 16mm features. What I mean is a typical feature is 3 x 1600ft reels. Each reel is 35cms across and about 25mm thick. Is there a clear plastic box that would store these nicely? My big idea was 'Really Useful' - this company make great plastic tubs, etc but I was surprised to find I couldn't get one of theirs to please me. Ideal would be 36-40cm square by 80mm thick, or near that.

This is close:

Anybody found a firm that supplies something just right for a 3x 1600ft feature?...

Industrial label reel boxes are the perfect size Steven.

The label reels themselves are 14" to begin with and hold 3000 labels for use on finished palletized goods.

We use them ourselves. The only problem is, is getting a company to pass them on once used.

We have a cardboard recycling bailer so sadly that's where ours end up. Maybe some local manufacturing company would be willing to sell you a few if you approach them regarding these. The depth of the boxes varies depending on the label size but standard sized label boxes will hold two features and the boxes come with a built in divider insert!

I might try one of these for Super 8 2 x 1200ft reels. In fact I think it would take 3 x 1200ft of super 8.

For Super 8mm. I have plenty of the correct white card boxes Steven. I glue these together for features before decorating them.

They are good quality strong boxes and work really well for my features.

Let me know should you ever wish to obtain any of these as I have plenty left.

boxes are probably a good storage method. They keep most of the dust out and they let the air in and out pretty well, so as to keep gas buildup down and reduce chances of a full fledged vinegar problem.
