I have a modern 1977 Debrie 16 known as the PAX 230. Very poorly made, and certainly no advert for the beautifully robust Debries which we all know.

All in one case, with built in speaker, and a modern ELC lamp. However, it is quite a surprise to find in a modern projector the use of a bastard exciter lamp.

The lamp is 6 volts at 1 amp (6 watts). It seems to have an SBC (small bayonet cap) base, i.e. it has two side pins and drops into its lamp-holder by downwards pressure and locks with a slight turn.

All controls are only labelled in French. This might suggest that it may have not been indended for export.

I spent a long time on the Internet looking for the identification of the lamp, including the superb Don's Bulbs, all to no avail.

Any members have this model and know the answer to my question?

If you have never heard of this model, here is a link to some data.

Can you supply a photo of the exciter lamp? If it's a replacement lamp you need I may be able to help, but if not someone else may.

It sounds very similar to the bulbs fitted to film viewers and old motorcycles. have you tried Halfords or Maplins? I suppose much depends on where the 6volt feed comes from. Ken Finch.

Yes. Bought from you.
If you look at a G.40 exciter lamp, then remove its skirt, add two small pins at 180% on its base, it looks like the one in my Debrie.
See attached pic of a G.40.

Looked through my stock of exciters but the closest I can find is a G19 but that is
4v .75a. So I think your description is correct - it's a bastard. Might be easier to change the lampholder.
