Does anyone have knowledge of lubrication of these projectors?
It states in the manual that no oil is needed and that any lubrication must be left to service engineers, but i'm sure that after all these years the machines will need some attention, in particular the cam tank and perhaps other crucial components.

David
Where - in the cam tank? And is there a level indicator?

Terry,
If you check the Film-tech Manuals 16mm projectors -file "Eiki Service N Version"
you will find a PDF file with service data, including the information you require.
I use molyslip grease within the camtank, together with a drop of moly oil on the felt pad against the cam.
If you need further help,shout-up.

Thanks David
Had a look at the PDF and it really answers all my queries. Pity it's so many pages but I'm trying to cherry pick the essential ones to print off. Strange thing is that when I select pages to print it seems to print off pages that I haven't selected. But I think I've got the ones I need. Many thanks.

Terry,
There is a specific order for removal of the cam tank that I use!.
If you require further help, please ask, as without due care
you can damage the claw!

David

Thanks again David
Is there an easy way to access the felt pad without removing the cam tank? I have looked at both front and rear and although it's possible to see the claw from the front I don't see the pad.

Terry,
I feel there is no shortcut to doing this job properly.
The old lubricant within the cam-tank can become really goo-y and with the age of these machines, they really do need proper care.
It may well be the policy of some, to try squirting oil into the camtank via the shutter aperture, but in my experience it is better to do this job with care in order to promote longer life of your machine, and ensure a quiet-running unit.
You DO really need to remove the cam-tank to care for your machine and keep it operational for years to come.
You are quite correct in commenting on the age of these units and their lubrication requirement after many years.

David - looking at the manual instructions it's quite a major job and it does mention that care is needed to avoid damage to the claw. Perhaps something better left to someone more qualified.
