What do you think about the 16mm Siemens 2000 projector in its various versions? That is only optical, magnetic-optical, etc. So, the basic technology of this projector is always the same.

But in particular I would like to know the opinion for the magneto-optical version also provided with recording feature.

Nowadays, in good working, at a good price, is a viable purchase or is it overly an "old machine"?
Thank you.

It depends whether spares can be obtained for an old projector. They were usually bought by professionals and therefore will have had a lot of use.
They are very heavy.
I can see no real reason to buy one.

Well Luigi, I have a Siemens 2000 with both mag and optical sound. They are very well-made machines, and I've always been delighted with mine. One minor drawback is their use of a mains powered lamp, rather than a more modern low-voltage lamp, which obviously costs more to run. That's about it though for maintenance.

Another thing if you're thinking of buying one of these machines that the matching Siemens valve amplifier will need a refurb if it hasn't been done already, simply due to age - fitting new capacitors is the usual thing - but that's to be expected. Once suitably tuned up, the Siemens valve amps sound lovely - in fact they're quite sought-after by vintage hifi enthusiasts.

cheers
phil
