Hello,

Only recently my Elf RT1 has begun to start up slow and then pick up speed and run at normal speed.
I'm not sure if it's the take up spool belt, its cork or something else in the machine that's giving up.
It lasts for around 5-8 secs after the motor is switched on and then it's fine.
But interestingly this doesn't happen everytime I set up the projector. Only on some some occasions and so I'm baffled as to what it could be.

Has anyone come across this type of thing before?

Thank you,

Can
The RT1 is a very old model now. When was it last serviced and lubricated?

Hi Maurice,

I bought it off ebay back in June.
In answer to your question I haven't had it serviced yet.

The slow start up has only happened recently.

The previous owner said it was handed to him by his boss who only used it once or twice and he himself never used it cause he didn't have any 16mm films and it's something he wasn't into hence the sale.
He dropped off the projector in person which was kind of him.

He said he had replaced all the belts with new ones.

The project runs fine once its up and running.
The only other issue I have with it is the crackling volume pot.
I'll have to take it apart and spray into the pot from what I've read.
I've tried turning the volume knob back and forth over and over as someone suggested but that hasn't really helped.
