House on the Haunted Dupes

I guess this the thing now people paying hundreds for bottom feeder prints. If you have Horror, sci fi or cult films that are worn, vinegar, washed out dupes or red films sell them and make some dough. I seen a Kong dupe go for over 500 last week. whats next a dupe of Freaks getting 1000

Well it didn't warrant the level of price that IT CAME FROM FADED SPACE got earlier this week .
Perhaps because it was a dupe ?
" Bottom Feeder " ???
They are my best customers . I have them seeing " Red " .

The screen shots look quite nice for a dupe but I'm still surprised that three people would pay at least $450. I'm not sure that this means 16mm prices are taking off in a similar manner to Super 8 - maybe the buyer has a skeleton and was desperate to present the film in 'Emergo'!

Film prices are so odd arnt they. Trailers and advert reels are going absolutly nuts.
As you say, certain titles are going through the roof for what i would deem to be a print for the rubbish bin,(or garbage as you say over the pond),yet for a ton or under you can buy suprb prints. So far all my 16mm prints have been great prices.
I guess if money is of no concern than some peoole wikl be happy to pay. Cant say i would pay 500 for any title even if it was like brand new from the labs. [Wink]

Ive never paid 500 or more for a feature nor would I ever. not even if its Low fade A list film. Its not like I dont have the money to spend I could if I wanted to but It's just not me, The Most I ever paid for a feature was 250.00 for a nice Original of The Raven 1935. I paid 350.00 for a 15 chapter Serial.

I cant see that the people paying top prices for crap condition or poor prints are regular collectors, surly they would know, (as we do), the value of a print. I just dont get it. BUT, each to there own. [Wink]

I don't know, but just curious if the sale is an actual transaction. Say the print sold for $500 on eBay, but did the buyer actually complete the deal and pay for it?

OK,let's face it.
What's the point of collecting badly faded/beaten to hell/very VS print at astronomical price,if the same title is readily available in remastered digital form (DVD/BD/Digital stream/whatever) at really reasonable price?? [Confused] [Confused]

Wandering around my local auction/classified web I have seen several Disney shorts in faded 200ft Super8 silent form with the asking price around 30-50$ ,or full feature length films (of some virtually unknown westerns) in faded Eastman 16mm for close to 300$. [Eek!] This is the main reason I quit collecting any films anymore.

Why don't you Ask the seller if it's a fake or real transaction? What's the point Creep
