Hi all

back in the day when I used to collect 16mm I had a times many top titles and some of varying quality..the best colour print for saturation, clarity and absolute sheer beauty was a Kodachrome print - yes Kodachrome print of "White Christmas" was stunning. It was a print I obtained actually from a professional film maker in Holland as part of a 35mm swap deal.

Anyone have a ny favourite 16mm prints with colour that jumps off the screen?

I also must add that I had stunning colour prints of Hammers Curse of Frankenstein and Rosemarys Baby both no fade colour and magnificent. The latter IB tech)

I remember those days fondly but not the cost..just have blu rays and HD/3D video P/J now.

Its a shame you only have video and blu ray now.some wonderfull reel films out there for me one of the best is my ib tech you only live twice .but ive had so many others.robo cop2 beautiful colour but scratched .to name but one .

I'd have to mine is a Fuji print of a Gilligan's Island episode I got about 10 years ago. With all the saturated primary colors in the show -- the red of Gilligan's shirt, the blue of the Skipper's, the green on the jungle -- those bright colors just pop off the screen. It's really a sight to see.

I too also have a handful of Gilligans Island episodes that are just as good as you describe. My best feature is IB Tech TOPAZ from 1969. I am a big Hitchcock fan and I am thankful to have this print. It is not one of his popular films but I enjoy it very much. [Smile]

Sorry I had a double of the episodes I have is Castaway Pictures Presents which has Gilligan finding crates with movie equipment and they all make a film in hopes of being rescued....very cool considering the love of the hobby. [Smile]

We havnt been in 16mm for too long but do have some great prints now.As far as outstanding colour is concerned we have only purchased films with good or excellent colours except for two TV programmes. However, if i think about some of the very best ones it would be these,Robin prince of thieves LPP, Dances with wolves LPP,witness Agfa, Bullitt IB Tech,and Mississippi burning LPP. These all have superb colours. but if i had to single one one it would be robin prince of thieves.its simply glorious to view and the forest scenes especially are fantastic [Wink]

Like Tom, I'm still new; I've only been collecting since 2015. However, I would say that my choice would be my IB scope print of Oliver! I ran it a few weeks ago for a mate, and it looked superb.

Nigel, I really envy your print of You Only Live twice - one of my favourite Bond films.

IB Tech does something that video can't. But it's hard to collect it at affordable prices. My favorite prints are Tech, and are favorites simply because it's obviously gorgeous and special, even to the untrained eye. But not all of them have that amazing saturated color or even good registration, so the effect varies! Probably any 16 print shot in true 3-strip Technicolor is going to come off well.

Hi all

yes some lovely prints listed above and IB tech..well you guys know how stunning it can look.

Other prints I had that looked wonderful colour wise Cockleshell Heroes (IB), RoboCop - LLP and probably the sharpest print I ever owned - seriously good. I did have a lovely print of "Yellow Submarine" that had lovely colour as did a very nice print I had of "Elvis on Tour" which also had a magnetic soundtrack as well as many lovely prints.

I had a flat "Raiders full length" once good colour and a very nice LLP of "Close Encounters".

Happy days back in 16mm...and those prints must be in other collectors hands somewhere - hope they enjoy them.

Bullitt is my first IB Tech colour film, and thanks once again to Kevin Clark for this one.I knew IB tech was good but when i put it up i was quite taken back, as you said Mark, really good saturated colours and with the safe knowledge it will never fade i know i can keep this one forever. Now whats my next one going to be?

ibs are great tom does yours take up good and tight on the take up reel thay are notorious for cupping and warping. out of all the ibs i have only one does not need a half twist to take up good best

Fotunatly theres no warping on this one. I always bench rewind my films nice and tight and always use a skinny slither of masking tape to seal the leader down.

I've had many lovely colour prints over the years,it's nice to have an unfaded print of your favourite movie,the I B Tech ones can look superb,Goldfinger springs to mind, The Italian Job was another that was unfaded but I'm guessing was low fade and possibly a later print,looked great in scope too,Mark
