I would like a couple of 35mm reels to make a display on my wall. Metal would be best has I want to paint them.

Hi David,

I'd wanted one for years and treated myself for my Birthday a few weeks ago:

Goldberg 35mm 14.5" 2000ft. Antique Metal Film Reel

I'm very pleased with it. It's in good used condition: looks like it's had an eventful life, but it's not shabby looking.

It came with a couple of feet of 35mm film. I really should scan it in and post the image here so people can guess what movie it is. (I have no idea...)

I'll give you odds you can find a similar sale in the UK: unfortunately these are becoming very expendable these days.

I DID tell my wife it was just for display and no 35mm projector was on the way before I opened the box! I get a lot of support for my film collecting as it is, why scare the poor woman?!

That's just what I need. Plan is a couple of 35mm 16mm and 8mm reels for display. I would clean them up and spray them gold silver for a wall feature.

It would be wonderful to get one chromed, but I think they are galvanized steel and I'm not sure they can chrome plate over that.

What I did with mine is my wife brought home a 1950s vintage DeJur 8mm machine she found at a rummage sale. It's too simple to use very often, but too pretty to hide, so we set it up as a display.

-the 35mm reel is set up as a backdrop for this machine. The relative size is kind of impressive!
