Here's the news from my latest visit to my local Orlando Super Wal-Mart:
Good news - plenty of Blu-Ray players, starting at $169.00 for the Magnavox brand. Sony's start at $249.00, no Panasonics.

Bad news- Blu ray discs almost non-existant, down to one lonely shelf display of the latest 20 releases. Zero shelves for older titles- down from about 3 previous shelf displays.
With Borders book store no longer stocking old title Blu -rays, this leaves Barnes and Noble as the only place to buy the older classic Blu-Ray titles.

Are we already witnessing the death of Blu -ray?

Paul, I think more likely we are witnessing the death of the the "high street" retailer.

Take a look at amazon.com... If my experience in the UK is anything to go by, good riddance to the high street as far as anything 'complicated' like AV or Hi-Fi goes. 17 year old staff who pretend they know everything, don't listen to what you are saying, etc, I'm sure we all have our stories. Recently I attempted to purchase a 'compass'. 'Is it a designer label?' and 'What do you want one of those for?' were two answers. Granted there are two types of compass, one for drawing and the other for finding North. That was a subtle distinction that didn't come up... Geeez.
