We all know (it's not a piece of news, after all) Italian 8mm prints are generally 'so and so' (just to be diplomatic and politically correct).

Good/excellent prints were released and still exist, of course. But not so many, if compared to the HUGE amount of titles still available and circulating here, produced and distributed before the video tape era.

But allow me to share with you a genuine moment of glory, if you please.

I had been looking for a movie titled GOLDRAKE L'INVINCIBILE , an Italian edition of a Japanese Anime so popular here (but also in France, Germany, Spain and Canada) during the late 70's-early 80's AND I HAVE FINALLY FOUND IT TODAY.
The end of a 30 years search!..

We are more or less all collectors, here. So you can all imagine the way I feel tonight.

Printed on Agfa LPP, this 5*600ft animated feature (not a pirate, but an official issue) is really hard to find and almost all Italian 8mm collectors dream about it. At least, those who love the genre and remember those old days, when all Italian children, at 7.10 pm, where sitting in mystical silence in front of the television waiting for the daily episode of this unforgettable 'man of the space' to be aired.

A real gem, a wonderful print with great color and sharp. One of the best we can find here in Italy (probably THE BEST EVER).
Feeling like to scream (should I say screen?) my happiness to the whole world, tonight.

Hi Winbert, how are you? Thanks a lot.

The print will be delivered before the end of the week. Cannot wait! And shots will be posted as soon as I will have the opportunity to screen it.

It was a crazy purchase indeed. Expensive, yes.

But, hey, that's the price for a 30 years waiting! [Wink]

I've waited over 20 years to find a print of something I was looking for, but 30? Wow! That's awesome you were able to find it to add to your collection.

Hi Brad, how are you? Hope you are right.
That's it.
This Anime was aired in Italy for the first time in April, 1978. The feature on super 8 must have been released in 1979 or a little later. Even if I was so youg, I was already beginning to collect cartoons on 8mm. And this feature was absolutely too much expensive.

So many occasions lost, in the past. But yesterday I have finally found on Ebay and bought it.

Yes... It was a 30 years waiting. That's why I feel very excited. Take care, ciao!

Gian,

Since you say 30 years of waiting, I was googling to find how rare this item was.

I found this in Italian:

http://forum_del_super8.freeforumzone.leonardo.it/discussione.aspx?idd=6665261

What do you think the different with yours?

It says "super8mm completi con colori perfetti" which I believe meaning "Color perfect".

regards,

Wow, Gian, this is awesome. Congratulations, I understand how you feel. Don't we all ? As a kid I was also watching Goldrake (Goldorak in French) and I had a few of the Hefa shorts on super 8. I now have access to a 35 mil print of that same film (owned by a fellow collector). [Wink]
As they say in Zombieland, Rule #32: Enjoy the little things.

Hello Winbert. I did not know Andrea had a copy for sale in 2007. I am sure he sold it in a hour (will ask him). The price was good indeed.
To have my print I have spent a looooooooooot more!

Thanks Jean-Marc, comment vas-tu? Great to know you are a fan too (Goldrake/Goldorak was as well known as in France, here). A copy on 35mm? Wow, what a chance to watch it on the big screen. You lucky.

A second invitation for me, after 'Les Frissons'. Tell you friend to send me one, when next screening.
Ciao!
