Well,

This little forum has reached 1900 members. That's a lot of 8mm, 16mm, and 9.5mm enthusiasts. Thanks, Brad. [Cool]

It would be interesting to know how many of these are active users. Any way to tell? Since many just sign up to sell some films or equpipment, I mean.

With so many on-board, it's no wonder I have always advocated a film-con of our own and John Black has amply succeeded with a rousing first program in Wildwood NJ, with another to follow in May - Let's get the word around and make this next one as great as ones to follow - Shorty

The funny part is when you've mentioned the idea of a North American film convention in the past I always responded " 'taint happening"

-I stand corrected!

Steve,

Never under estimate the power of "Shorty". [Eek!]

Can someone who was at that show please tell me how many dealers were there and how many attendees?

Round-about twenty dealers, many people showed, ask John - Next show in May, will be a great one so pass the word

Jon, if my memory serves, I think I've been on this forum since 2003. People signing up just for a sell haven't been occurring very often. Mostly forum members posting sells. It's pretty rare to see a post from someone who has inherited films and wants to sell them or a person who comes on to sell their personal collection.

Could you imagine if all 1910 members were posting regularly. [Eek!] Now that would be cool. [Cool]

That would be very cool! [Big Grin]

...and probably confusing with all the new posts and topics [Razz]

It amazes me that with any forum, you never see posts from a large majority of members. It would be fascinating if some of the non-posters could just post ONE message here, saying why they never post!

... but if someone that never posts were to post a message of explanation ... then they would no longer be qualified to post [Smile]

With forums such as this, involving collecting, there are always folk leaving the hobby for whatever reason. They would still be on the list of members though. So, the older the forum, the more likelihood of this. How old is this forum, anyway? I've only been a member a couple years or so.

That's true, but I'd love to know if there are hundreds of people reading this and other threads, but never making themselves known. Or are they, as Michael suspects, mostly people that don't even log in nowadays? We need 'an offer that non-posters can't refuse', that would persuade even long-term lurkers to say hello! E.g. send a first post and get a free trailer!

Michael,

Brad started the 8mm Forum back in 2001. We're close to our first decade!

Thanks Doug - then I would guess there would indeed be quite a few who joined and have since left the hobby.

Michael,

Absolutely. I should point out that the 1900+ number (currently 1914) is actually the number of members since June 2003 when the Forum returned after a major hardware failure on the server wiped everything out a month earlier.

Doug
