After reading Dan most popular I thought I would mention the one that was a huge hit out here when I arrived in this country in 1973 and thats M*A*S*H and to this day it still gets constant re-runs. Last year when I was down with the flu the best medicine I reckon was lots of episode's of M*A*S*H on dvd and it worked [Smile] I think it hit the TV screens around 1972 with the final episode in 1983 even though I have watched plenty of repeats its one of those programmes I never tire of.

Itīs a great show! Itīs had many reruns here in Norway to.

Have you seen the spin off, AfterMASH? Or the pilot for W*AL*T*E*R*? Not nearly as good though.

M*A*S*H was a great show for a lot of reasons, one of the big ones is when they got to the point in the series where in most cases they'd have run out of ideas they started getting creative instead. They started doing things like filming from the point of view of a patient, even in one case a soldier that didn't make it and was visiting the hospital as a spirit before he left Earth.

Something that happened that was very good was Charles Winchester replacing Frank Burns. Burns had become Elmer Fudd, just plain pathetic in every way and an easy target for Hawkeye. Winchester was a windbag for certain, but he was smart and easily as good a doctor as Hawkeye, and their battles were a lot more even-sided, sometimes even become alliances. They also allowed Charles to be a lot more multidimensional than Frank so he matured throughout the series in ways that Frank never could.

Back in 1982 I was in college and had a part time job doing electronic product testing after school. M*A*S*H was on at 9PM and that's when my shift ended.

-the night the show ended they let us go home early to see it.

I loved M*A*S*H,untill the BBC started repeating it with the most awfull canned laughter you could imagine... someone would walk into any random situation and the laff track would go wild, much like Friends.I thought the TV series was far superior to the movie..
Yours
