I don't know what happened to him. I was gone for about a year or so, and when I came back, well, I hadn't seen a post from him yet.

Did John Whittle pass on? I always loved his posts and the wealth of information he was (or is) on the technical side of film.

Not only is John Whittle alive but his mind is sharp as a tack. Someone had a question about their feature with one reel looking different than the other reels and he gave a very detailed and complicated explanation. I agree with all of what he had to say, but it is probably over everyone's head. To make it simple for most collectors, I would say anything coming from a studio negative is an original and anything made from a print is a dupe. John is a very smart and knowledgeable fellow.
