Having moved recently, I came across some issues of a very well-produced German Super-8 magazine I used to buy in Denmark.

The quality of the binding and the printing, full-gloss covers, the interesting articles...it all drove home again how much respect and attention Super-8 still had, even towards the end when home video was starting to become a "player."

The magazine tried to please everyone: the Super-8 shooter, the film collector (and the ones going for video.)

This was back when having your own Steenbeck-style editing setup was not out of the question [Smile]

The one picture that really drives home "the good times" is this ad. The text reads: "The cinema room with over 100 ready-to-run slide and Super-8 projectors".....imagine walking into that place.

Fine days indeed...

I guess,back then, every dealer's premices was a projectors' heaven.Here I dug up two photos from ages ago (the late nineties),with yours truly and Tony Reypert at Buckingham Film Services,when Buckingham Film Services was in Buckingham!

in the day,John Burgoyne Johnson had what was known as the
Movie Museum,that had just about every projector know to man.
Unforunately,as Tony was telling me, It now resides in a lock up,
after John died, slowly rotting away.

As I understand it Pat, the museum was just cleared and kept
under wraps by the family.Buckingham Films,still run by Tony,
was left to run the business until he had to move from the
premises in Fleece Yard, and now runs it from home.

I may be wrong but wasn't the collection donated to some Photography Museum (Bradford?)

That could be the case Panayotis,his relatives probably had the best intentions,but the road to ruin is usually paved with those.
Tony Reypert still maintains,that after your time,never leave your
gear to a museum, as they really have little interest,so with the
situation now, I would imagine the stock will be beyond repair
especially in the damp English climate.
