Yes, you read it correctly.
I am currently reading "Jimmy Stewart" by Marc Eliot and in the book it says that Louis B. Mayer, head of MGM, installed a private brothel where attendance was mandatory as Mayer was suspicious of any male over the age of twenty-five who was unmarried. If they didn't "perform" there they would be released.
