I would say any production is great news if this enables us to have new negatives from New releases in order to keep Super 8 prints alive for the foreseeable. I am a little concerned if all prints will have to be mute however due to a lack of magnetic stripe in the future.

I agree, no matter how many years super 8 could still be in production/produced, if they can't have a mag stripe on that film, I won't buy it. Perhaps I'm getting lazy with advancing years, but I don't have the time to perfectly sync reels with audio for every showing.

Me too Osi, much as I love doctoring digital soundtracks to 're record my existing prints that can benefit from it, the last thing I would ever wish to do is sync them live.
Just too much hassle as far as I am concerned and it would stop me from relaxing while just wanting to watch and enjoy whatever is being screened.

I understand why for instance, John Clancy enjoyed doing this to showcase the gauge at a convention say..but to be doing all this just for our own entertainment in the home..well that's a step too far for me too

I was present at the BFCC several years ago when John Clancy ran several reels of film using the sync-pulse method. He had a THX sound system set up, and the results were very impressive indeed, with 5.1 surround sound blasting through the Ealing Town Hall, and all synchronized perfectly with the picture.
But I agree, that while this method is great for a special 'road show' event, it is not very appealing for routine home showing of films.

"Not very appealing" lol. It's a an absolute nightmare to pull off ( pardon the expression), for each and every film that we watch, Paul. [Big Grin] [Big Grin] [Big Grin] [Big Grin]

I doth my cap to John for his energies and efforts and say, he goes to lengths that us mere mortals can only dream of!

Fortunately, I only has one "stripe-less" print left, "Raiders of the Lost Ark" scope, (which I would LOVE to even get mono striped!), and I rarely even watch it for that very reason.
