Hi!

I guess this question might be for David Guest mainly, but if anyone has info on what's going to happen and the time things will happen, please drop info here. I will update the facebook page with proper info. It's 21 and 22 November, right? Is anything planned like last year on Friday too?

Thanks for any info

Don't know of any nailed on details for Blackpool yet Vidar, no doubt David Guest will fill you in.

Are you going to the BFCC later on this month Vidar?

Sadly, I can not go to Ealing ... No money and a terrible back. I am trying to lose some weight and hopefully will be able to walk "normally" for Blackpool. Lost 5-6 kg in the last month or so, so progress is there

Brilliant Vidar, well done on the weight loss front.

Hope your back gets a whole lot better and then hopefully you will be there at Blackpool and on your feet again, keep up the good work buddy! [Smile]

Hello vidar, Re. Blackpool, As far as I know there is going to be a
film show on the Friday night as last year.the convention week-end
will be the 21st and 22nd Nov. this is a week later than normal due
to the Hilton being booked up by the Irish party who stay there each year. So Mr. Guest has booked the convention in the week later.
hopefully it will be less crowded for us who are staying there.
this years covention dinner will be the 30th dinner so we are planning to make it a bit more special this year,so please Vidor and
your friends and anyone else reading this try to come to the dinner,
you will be most welcome. Details will be posted on the forum in the
comming weeks.

I've set my date to 20th of November, which is a day for a film show. 21st is the dinner evening and 22nd is the main event.

You need to get a plane to Manchester, then train, taxi or bus to Blackpool.

This is the facebook page to the Hilton
https://www.facebook.com/HiltonBlackpoolHotel

Last year we stayed at Moorings Hotel and the service is absolutey fab.
http://www.mooringshotel.co.uk/

We'll stay there again, if all goes to plan
They also let us use a room for film show.

Oh, BTW ... Moorings is a 5 minute walk from the Hilton

Any chance of more details on who is going to be there? Dealer list and program for what films going to be shown?

Would like as much info as possible for facebook. Might get more people coming

Probably just a little too early yet Vidar for David to finalize all of the arrangements just yet I would have thought.

Maybe in a couple of months perhaps?

Joe, the nearest airport to Blackpool is Manchester, which is about 50 miles away. You can fly direct, non-stop, to Manchester from most major US cities on British Airways or Virgin Atlantic. This avoids the hassle of flying into the very busy London airports and getting another flight to Manchester. On arrival in Manchester you can take a train or bus to Blackpool. Unlike the US, public transport is favored by much of the public, and is generally very frequent and reliable.

I will be posting a film dealers list at the end of july and what films are being shown on Friday night, Saturday night and sunday day time

SATURDAY NIGHT DINNER.
With slightly over 5 months to go, here's an update. This dinner will have all the usual attractions: three course meal with the Hilton's impressive cuisine; private bar; film quiz with a prize for the winner; the raffle with astonishingly good prizes (including NEW Super 8 and 16mm shorts); and the film show, which will be a 16mm presentation from Film Fair organiser David Guest. It all adds up to a memorable evening, but this year will be unique as we celebrate 30 years of the Blackpool dinner, with the 30th dinner! There will therefore be enhancements including a special cake and celebratory crackers, and folders on every table featuring menus and publicity from all 30 dinners. (Many thanks to David Watson and Simon McConway who are involved in providing these extra elements.)

Despite the extras, we have been able to hold last year's price of £20, which is cost price. If you have a Hilton room booked at the Film Fair rate, you can transfer your Saturday night dinner to the Film Collectors' Dinner at no extra cost, so long as you tell me. Simply email me direct via the relevant symbol above in order to make your booking and arrange payment (if you're not a Hilton guest).

David, I know Super 8mm is not your bag so to speak, but it is for many many collectors.

I hope, with this in mind, the format can and will be supported just as well as the other formats at this years convention.

I know of a fellow collector who has been going to the Blackpool outing in the last few years but felt even DVD sales took precedence sadly over the "bootlace" guage.

I do hope Super 8mm films and equipment is as well supported as the other formats in the next, and future events.

This is not aimed as a criticism of past times David... just a plea to you to aim to raise the profile of the event to many of us Super 8mm quality film and quality equipment collectors.

I do hope the tables contain plenty of Super 8mm quality items in the future. [Smile]

Posted by David Guest (Member # 2791) on June 25, 2015, 05:25 PM:

there are plenty tables selling super 8 films and projectors. I myself had over 200 super 8 films on my stall as well as 3 elmo super 8 projectors last year .and there was loads on the bring and buy as well. I would say going of the bookings there will be as many super 8 as 16mm
