The David Lean Cinema in Croydon will mark the 25th anniversary of Croydon-born director David Lean’s death on SATURDAY APRIL 16 at 2.30pm, with a special commemorative 35mm screening of his 1948 adaptation of OLIVER TWIST. We’re privileged that this will be introduced by film historian, filmmaker and author Kevin Brownlow, who wrote David Lean: A Biography, the definitive account of Lean’s life and career. He will also participate in a Q&A afterwards. Kevin says: “It's a superb film – the best of all the Dickens films I've seen.” He has an intriguing personal connection with it, which he will reveal during his introduction. There will also be a rare screening (on 35mm) of an advertisement inviting people to audition for the film.

Hi Adrian
That's great news that its going to be on 35mm.
Will it be a BFI restored print ?
I cant travel that far but I am curious about this.
I showed the Digital Cinema Package restoration of this
a few years back and it looked very good indeed.
