I was reminded today of recent references to the "Drunk" actor, Freddie Frinton whilst I was watching Talking Pictures T.V.'s showing of the 1953 film, "Forces' Sweetheart." Freddie is almost the star in the film and also gets to do his renowned act. Also along for the fun are Michael Bentine, Harry Secombe and Graham Stark.
If you have 9.5mm sound the feature was available as a nine reeler T/9765.
If you haven't access to Talking Pictures T.V. it's on DVD at a reasonable price.

Thanks Maurice, I just may get this as I have a multi-region player to handle it.

I have never seen Frinton in anything except "Dinner for One" in which he was brilliant, so this looks like a good chance to remedy that.

Claus.

This is only a "B" feature but, nevertheless, is quite entertaining with Harry Secombe and Michaeal Bentine fooling along and very ably assisted by Freddie Frinton who has quite a lion's share of the picture.
Harry sings (I'm Welsh, we all sing), Michael does some of his TV and stage acts. Freddie also gets to do his "drunk" act.
The Lesley Roberts' dancers also enliven the action, they were quite a fixture in many British television variety shows.

There are some actors that just play a great drunk. Two come to my mind right away, Walter Mathau and Lee Marvin, (who literally made his drunk comwboy a specialty for almost ten years of films, from "Cat Ballou" to "The Great Scout and Cathouse Thursday".

I always thought good ole frumpy faced Walter was the best part of "Earthquake", as his character is perpetually plastered throughout, as everyone else is running around with their head cut off! The film-makers even found more ways to use his character in the film. I remember fondly that as two main actors are walking through a scene in the foreground, (in a underground car parking place/garage), you see, as the camera pans, Walter drunkenly dancing on a car in the background to the peoples happy amusement. He was just great!!!

To those who remember Freddie Frinton on television, a double DVD will be issued on 12 September containing his BBC tv series "Meet The Wife". The shows continued for four years from 1963 to 1966.
The wife was played by Dame Thora Hird (the mother of actress Janette Scott.)

Of course we must not forget the greatest big screen drunk.
Charlie Chaplin ... ONE A.M. is a fine example of his skills
and not a speech slur or swear word to be heard.
Pure genius !
