well lets see who is the first to find this for me
a film about a couple who take in a lodger who is a doctor and the doctor I think has an affair and she ends up having a baby and somewere along the line they sue as the baby dies or the mother miscarries or the doctor may be a lawer or some like that let see what you come up with and no its not pacific heights .don't know the actors names made late 80s or early 90s I think

Hi David.

Sounds very much like Malice (1993) starring:

Alec Baldwin - who plays a doctor/surgeon with a 'god-complex'
Nicole Kidman - the woman who has the 'baby'
Bill Pullman - who plays her husband.

This film used to be shown regularly late of a night on BBC1 from the late 90's through to the 00's.
