I am a total novice. We uncovered our Bolex 18-5 Automatic 8mm projector, bought in the 60s. It seems in great shape with original zippered cover and manual--except the lamp is not working. I would be thankful for some guidance o n where to purchase a new lamp. The one currently in the projector may be a Toshiba 8V 50W.

These lamps are not cheap.

Hi Lillian,
I have a few 8mm projectors in my collection that takes that sort of lamp.
Replacement lamps can be expensive but I have found that buying dead projectors with the lamp still working to be the best and usually cheapest option.
Oddly the value of a dead projector with working lamp has almost no value, sure the lamps aren't new but they do work [Smile]

These lamps were extremely widely used in 1960s projectors so secondhand lamps are easy to find on Ebay but beware of high prices for so-called "new old stock" that were made decades ago [Frown]
