I have been to more theatrical screenings this year than any other year in my life; a total of 82; 1 on 70mm, 6 on 35mm, and the rest DCP. Some of my favorites include EYE IN THE SKY, HELL OR HIGH WATER, ARRIVAL, and ROGUE ONE. What say you?

I would go out to the movies more often if people would exercise some self control and leave their phones off and mouths shut; that sounds very harsh, but I know you folks understand. I did find a venue which is set up more like a screening room with lounger chairs and tables, and since there is only room for 40 people, they all seem to behave themselves (and the screen is still a good size). I envy you, Guy, that you managed to find 82 films to see that seemed worthwhile. I'm getting lazy researching new films, but I did go out to see Snowden and Jackie; both were worth seeing at a theatre.

Rogue One ...

Ok, i broke my own rule of boycotting theaters (because of a terrible experience some years ago in our local theater), but I did want to see this on the big screen.

I like films that are just old fashioned "popcorn" fun, no political agendas, no stuff a child shouldn't see, just good family fun (not much of that anymore0, and, at least so far, the STAR WARS series of films have been just that, and this one is no exception to the rule. great fun.

Now, granted, i have not seen much of hat has been offered this year otherwise, except for the occassional download of a 2016 gilm that i can watch at home, but i didn't see anything else that was near as entertaining.
