I picked this up from a search on Ebay UK - looks like it is a projector for showing educational strips with synchronised sound:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/vintage-projector-elf-cassette-sp-/192122144695?hash=item2cbb5f47b7:g:nFYAAOSw241YlgnS

Not quite what I had hoped for but I did my usual 'I wonder what else they have for sale' peep and clicked on the 'seller's other items' link - just recovering now after two pink pills a cold shower and a lie dowm.

Yes a fine array of non cine related items Kevin!😁😁😁

It appears cine sales is not the sellers primary business ha ha.

I thought the same Andrew must be how the other half live - thank goodness it wasn't a projector I would have liked - suggesting calling to pay and collect - I would never have been the same again!

All good clean-ish fun really I'm only jealous and feeling slightly old and worn out just thinking about it.

What was it a famous singer once said, much younger than we both are now Kevin, I hasten to add!

"I'd rather have a good cup of tea!" Ha ha ha. [Wink]

Had you collected the equipment Kevin, you may very well have appeared on the front door looking like Dame Edna Everage! 😁😁

I would definitely only have gone there under the cover of darkness Andrew!

Worse still as I, ahem, looked more closely at some of the 'other items' just in case they might be cine related...... bloomin' Ebay has decided to send me recommendations based on my recently viewed items.

Now where is that 'delete searches' button when you need it!

Many manufacturers made the Cabin projectors.

They were used a lot in education, most had facilities for slide and film-strip projection. A few had, like the one advertised, provision for a sound commentary by a supplied cassette.

They were quite small and compact and could easily be moved from classroom to classroom.

I wonder if the seller is an ex-teacher who moved on to a new career [Wink]

Shouldn't laugh really. This is serious business, but a sad truth among society nevertheless. [Confused]

Yes, "film strips" made a regular appearance in the classrooms of my youth. If you were lucky, you were selected by the teacher (often a Nun) to advance the film when the "beeps" emanated from the audio tapes. A predecessor to the modern power point.

That Elf looked pretty fancy. Maybe it could advance the film on its own.

As to the seller's other items, I can safely say that none of that made it into the curriculum of my Catholic school education.

It would be possible to make some interesting (and money spinning) films with his other items. As long as you had someone to wear them.

I tried to resist temptation but couldn't help it - the seller responded to a question from me and the lube they sell is NOT suitable for cine films or projectors.

I seem to have been missing quite a lot on ebay with my cine and ordinary searches etc.

Best Mark.
