I would like to make a change here,
We normally like to point out a bad experience or a stupidly over the top price a film has been put up for.

I recently purchased a scope lens holder bracket for my Eiki NT1 16mm to use a Sankor D lens, i made the enquiry as was told it would fit, the jist of it was that when i got it the lens was too big.

Well, i emailed the chap and it was explained that i have the larger ,(& it seems more rare), 16D, the rear part being 48mm.
so i was offered to return it and it would be exchanged.
I did this and the replacement was sent back to me all within a few days & despite me asking if i needed to pay for return carriage from him to me this was covered by the seller.

So, i would like to say a huge thank you to this seller, (not sure who it is), and can recommend this person 100%. As said before, despite some of the horror stories we get from fleabay there are some very good sellers on there as well(inc me

It's the films for sale on there that you have to remain most wary of based on some of the descriptions we read.
It doesn't seem to matter if these descriptions are sketchy or otherwise, you can still find yourself taking receipt regularly of somebody else's pile of crap if you're not careful far beyond what ever should be necessary.

I see what your saying there Andrew [Wink]

most are honest but just be careful common sense

Some...I'd agree, but I'm certainly not sure about "most" based on my own previous years of shopping there for film.

Common sense cannot legislate for gross exaggeration nor gross omissions.

I suspect after looking at the Aliens ad there once again this afternoon, people's tolerance of acceptance is far greater than mine though it has to said, so perhaps many would not feel the levels of disappointment and dissatisfaction that I have on many occasions using ebay as a place to attempt to purchase quality films.

I do agree with much of what you say Andrew. Ive probably been lucky i guess. Having said that the currunt price of the alia s film up over 700 is nuts. I may want a title but for that price i would want it to be first rate.

i am as picky as they come and over the years had a lot good films from eBay.maybe i have just bee lucky

If I was paying £700 plus for a film Tom, I too would want it to be almost if not completely perfect with no lines that I couldn't clean out of the print.

I have also been lucky myself on occasions Simon, often when the sellers have not been the actual owners of the items ironically, but increasingly in the last few years in particular, I have been left thinking to myself, I'd much prefer to shop elsewhere if at all possible.

The thing that narks me is when a seller says 'no returns accepted, and that I'm covered by ebay on a title I really want. It leaves me with the choice of risking that the print is decent and if not contacting ebay or saying 'not today Josephine'

'not today Josephine' all day long for myself, under those circumstances Dave.

No screenshots, little or "woolly" vague descriptions, no returns accepted...

Not much to capture anyones faith in the sale is it?

Anybody would be an absolute fool parting with a couple of hundred for a feature based on the evidence presented.
That's quite besides those titles that tip almost quadruple figures with little more to go off.

Receiving a bad way below par film, can be just as detrimental for this hobby as the feeling of complete delight from receiving a better than expected one, enhances it.
I try to avoid such rollercoaster rides nowadays.

You are still covered by the distance selling regulations, if not as described, open a case with ebay and they will ask you to send the item back, and you will get your refund. I did this with an item, and the seller would not answer emails, got my refund in full, and because the idiot thought if I don't reply to the emails and not pickup the returned item i'll in the clear. Who does not know that if an item is not collected from the post office depot its "returned to sender" as Elvis would say, this person must be the only one in the uk, so I got my money back in full and the returned item, which I later sold. In my case Ebay were very quick to return and resolve the matter.

That's good to hear Paul in such dire circumstances. The fact the seller did everything in his power to dodge his legal responsibilities so far as his contract with ebay is concerned, only cements what I was referring to earlier though regarding the all too familiar type of characters you stumble upon on ebay.
Like I say, for the most part, I'd rather just deal with people I know and trust within the hobby these days.
I just cannot be doing with dealing with these type of people any longer.
There is no film I'm so desperate for that makes this option the only one thankfully.
