I got to see (and project, digitally) yesterday at my local community cinema a rare example of a feature shot on b/w Super 16mm. It was an entertaining true story from Finland: THE HAPPIEST DAY IN THE LIFE OF OLLI MÄKI. I'm sure that even people who wouldn't normally spot a film shot on 35mm would have noticed the grain in this instance. IMDB says:
Camera: Arriflex 416 Plus, Zeiss Super Speed Lenses
Negative Format: 16 mm (Kodak Tri-X 7266)

You might have trouble finding it due to what I expect is a limited release, but it's different and worth seeing if you get the chance. The use of film seems to suit the subject and 1962 setting. It was the Finnish submission for the Best Foreign Language Academy Award.
