I just saw the trailer of a new Reese Witherspoon movie titled "Home Again." There is a scene with a small group of people enjoying an outdoor 16mm movie screening. This movie is taking place in present day.I mean, who does that? Next thing you know, people will start playing vinyl albums on turntables and start drinking Pabst Blue Ribbon Beer.

You got me, Guy!

I'm used to seeing this topic title from you about 4 days after CineSea!

It's interesting: maybe ten years ago I remember one of these crime scene lab kind of TV shows where the crime was recorded on Super-8 in present times. It was an interesting plot choice after several video formats had already gone obsolete!

I think there is a romantic quality to classic technology that makes it visually appealing in movies. I have noticed more and more in scenes of new movies where if someone is going to play music it is on a record player. Now it is the same with film. I truly think we are preserving that which will eventually be embraced by young people in the future.
