I decided to see what sort of BW could be made from a faded color movie. I downloaded a sample of a faded movie I found online of a 16mm film that was projected on a wall. Seems that a faded color movie can be turned into a decent BW film.

So the next step is to figure out how to chemically alter the actual film to make it black and white.

I don't quite get your article Daniel. As far as I know all movie maker software can turn any type of color to B/W and later we render it to make it a full B/W film.

So what is the surprise here?

Cheers,

I would think the surprise is how good the B&W image is, compared with the tonal range of the faded colour one.
