I wonder if our American colleagues can get the humour behind it? [Big Grin] I picked up the series on DVD and must admit I do enjoy it.

Its been 20 years since I last flew international, one time at Glasgow airport the security there talked to me about a Elmo ST180 projector I was taking. The guy asked if I wanted to sell it [Big Grin] another security officer came over and pointing to the other security person, said to me he has been after one of those for a while....sorry not for sale was my reply [Frown]

Anyway back to Flylo... [Smile]

My hat's off to you for traveling with a projector, Graham! Airport security isn't comfortable with stuff not commonly seen.

I was flying home from San Francisco about 15 years back. I had this conversation with the security dude:

Sir, are you transporting a camcorder?
No, it's a movie camera.
RIGHT! -a Camcorder! (A-HAHHH!)
No, camcorders shoot video, this uses film.
RIGHT! VIDEOTAPE!
No: FILM!

-and I whipped out a box of K-40.

The poor guy was just utterly baffled. I bet he thought he was seeing something brand new!

Probably went home and said to his wife "There was this guy today..."

I like to stand on principal, but what was I thinking?! It's almost 3000 miles home and there are no sidewalks!

Good story Steve [Smile]

Times have certainly changed security wise. I don't think I would be game to try to take a projector with me these days...its probably not allowed.

I do remember once again going through Glasgow Airport [Roll Eyes] where they wanted to look at my Canon FTB camera on inspection the security guy asked me to remove the 50mm lens so he could look into the front of the camera. I think around that time someone has taken a camera on board an aircraft and inside had altered the camera to fire a round [Eek!]

Another time at London Heathrow they went through Stevens little back pack and toys, he was about 5 yrs of age. The only dangerous thing he had was his monkey called Bill [Roll Eyes] ...The Security person grabbed it and made a bit of an act out of it, and pretended his monkey was strangling the security guy... much to Steven and others around him amusement [Big Grin]

We flew in the summer of 2002: maybe 10 months after 9/11. Europe was pretty empty of Americans that summer, basically just us!

This was after the shoe bomber so everybody had to take their shoes off...

-thank God we travelled before the underwear bomber!
