Has anyone had any recent contact with the American site called "Loving The Classics" who seem to specialise in producing DVD copies of public domain movies?
Some weeks ago I ordered a copy of Powell & Pressburger's "Oh Rosalinda!" but have not received it. Sending an email for information has not brought any reply either.

Maurice, there seems to be no end of complaints about this company. One mentions trying to contact them by phone only to find the number disconnected. Several were charged twice for an order they never received. Hope you're not out of pocket

Thank you, Dave
I paid by credit card, so I may be able to claim from them.
"Oh Rosalinda!" is such a great film but seems to have disappeared from sight, so I was very gratified that a Google search revealed its sale on the American site.

I have now discovered that I will not be able to get a refund via my credit card as the sale was under the minimum guaranteed of £100 by credit cards under the Consumer Credit Act 1974, section 75.
As regards "Oh Rosalinda!" it appears that the copyright is now held by StudioCanal who seem to be jealously guarding it as they have even had it removed from YouTube. [Embarrassed]

Wow Maurice. I didn't know about the £100 rule. Refunds on small sums aren't so easy to get as I thought.

I never heard of that daft rule.

The majority of fiddles will be quite small after all, certainly under £100.

I suppose staying with paypal where you can helps.

Is there a sneaky copy on ebay Maurice possibly, or did you look.

Sorry too.

Best Mark.

There are odda and ends on eBay such as stills and a soundtrack LP.
There are DVDs of most of the films by Powell & Pressburger but not this one.
If nobody has heard of this film here's the LP.

In the last few days I have had two emails from "Loving The Classics" extolling all their latest offers and saying they add several hundreds of new titles each week.
But as regards my order, zilch.
Or is this just a scam to get cash from unsuspecting buyers?

What a huge surprise.
The DVD-R of "Oh, Rosalinda!" arrived today, only a year late. No explanation, other than a free gift of part 1 of the Columbia serial "Tex Granger:Midnight Rider Of The Plains".

That gives hope to all those who are waiting for an non yet delivered item ordered some time ago…
Happy for you, Maurice [Big Grin]

I think some months back Network DVD issued 'Oh,Rosalinda'! The movie was a complete disaster on the ABC circuit release but Network have an excellent reputation for reissuing stuff from the ABPC catalogue. Its there, so check out Network DVD.

The whole back catalogue from the Associated British Picture Corporation is under license now to Studio Canale.
