Latest news on my Baby. Just fitted a new shutter, beautifully made by Ron Ashton. Now just need to work out how to mount the new lamp base for the modern 12v lamp! MIKE

Hi Michael, have another look at my 27 november post re your Pathe Baby lamp. Remember not to fit anything more than 10 watts or you will likely blister the film with the heat. You can fix the plastic tubing together with super glue and the lamp holder into the bit of plastic plumbing "speedfix" joint with a small self tapping screw if it is too loose. I am working on a similar mod that can be used for a Pathe ACE as these original lamps are also now hard to get. Best of luck, Ken Finch.

Hi Ken, looked again at your previous post. Is the idea that the tubing fits into the original lamp holder? Thanks MIKE

Yes, the plastic tube fits into the lamp holder and the original clamping screw can be used to adjust the height and hold it in place. Wires from the new lamp holder must be insulated of course. With regards to the ACE conversion, the innards of the bakelite lamp holder are removed and the little 2 pin lampholder I use sits on top of it and is the same diameter or slightly less than the bakelite one. Thats the theory anyway ! Ken Finch [Smile]

I've just noticed that the claw only just (if that) engages with the film, and it is only advancing sporadically. Can it be adjusted? Thanks MIKE

Hi Michael, Yes the mechanism can be adjusted. I had the same problem and if my memory serves me right I slackened the screws holding the mechanism frame to the casing and just moved it back a wee bit. Ken Finch. [Smile]
