Hi all,

Bolex has arrived. Will look to swap the old transformer to a modern item that is not a fire hazard!
Would I be right in looking at a 240v to 110v step down transformer similar to http://www.ebay.co.uk/ itm/231505949596?ru=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fsch%2Fi.html%3F_from%3DR40%257CR40%26_sacat%3D0%26_nkw%3D231505949596%26_rdc%3D1
Since the existing transformer is 250 - 500w should I aim for the 500w replacement or could I step down to a 300w one.

Thanks for any advice

Andy

Hi Andrew, I think you will need a higher wattage transformer than 500w as the lamp alone is rated at this amount and you also have the wattage of the motor to consider, so you need to look for one with an output of about 600watts to be on the safe side. Ken Finch.

Thanks Ken.

There are a number of 600 and 1000w ones for sale. So may try those.

Glad to be of help Andrew. As an alternative you could look for a transformer from another projector, e.g. Bell and Howell 600 series or Debrie D16. There were quite a number of 16mm film projectors with seperate transformers for use in the U.K. in the good old days!! Ken Finch. [Wink]
