Until last night I'd only developed my Ferrania 1960s B&W stock in Rodinal (2 Caffenol experiments were complete failures). However the grain on all of them was ridiculous and I was having to accept that perhaps the expired stock itself was to blame, and I wasn't going to be able to get any acceptable results. Even using Rodinal at 1:100 dilution, semi-stand, produced terrible grain.
Last night I tried Perceptol at 1+3 dilution, bucket developed, with regular agitations. And.. what a difference!
Perceptol is the future, and now I can focus on improving and refining the process. Full test film to come later. There's a little damage to some frames, caused I think, by not having enough developer in the bucket so the film needed to be regularly compressed to get even development.
