Hiya folks!
I just joined this server, as I'm hoping to grow my film collection. I spent most of my savings on a Bell & Howell Filmosound 1592 last month, & thanks to my good friend Mr. Paul Ivester, I have some educational films & a Mickey Mouse cartoon to use as barganing chips!
As the title says, the film I really want to aquire is "The Point!", a 1971 animated feature by Harry Nilsson. Was the first feature-length cartoon to be made exclusively for TV, but had a healthy 2nd life as an educational film for schools. The way I see it, that's 2 possible ways for me to get a print!
If nobody here has it or knows somebody who has it, I'm also looking for vintage cartoons, particuarly ones made by the Fleischer Bros. You know, Betty Boop, Popeye, Superman, all that jazz. And also to a lesser extent: Anything mabe by UPA, Ub Iwerks, Van Beuren, MGM Cartoons, Hanna-Barbera, really anything not made by Disney. I'd prefer to trade my films for these, though buying them isn't off the table if the price is right.
Here's what I have that I'm definatetly willing to give up:
"Pluto's Christmas Tree" 1952 Disney; Slightly faded, missing the title cards, choc-full of splices
"The House That Jack Built" Unknown Year, Unknown Distributor; Completely faded, choc-full of splices
"We Discover The Dictonary" 1963 Coronet Films; Very light splices, great picture quality
"Sleep for Health" Unknown Year, EB Films; Missing the opening title cards & first couple of seconds, great picture quality
Old John Deere TV Commercial, 70's, Unknown Distributor; Completely faded, has a few splices.
Here's what I have I might be willing to part with:
"What's Brewin, Bruin?" 1948 Looney Tune; My first film! Missing the title cards & first couple of seconds (They got really chewed up when I was troubleshooting my Filmosound), Choc-full of splices, decent picture quality.
"Seasons: Autum" 1980 Centron Films; Lightly faded, NO splices.
"Flip the Frog - Soda Squirt" 1933 Ub Iwerks; NO splices, great picture quality.
So, see anything you like? Got something you think I might like? Shoot me a message, I won't bite!
