    For GS 1200 OWNERS

Have you ever had to remove a print during projection for one reason or another? Where you able to do it successfully? Well then the opposite of taking it out naturally would be to put it back in.

Have you ever had auto-load fail but the projector was functional otherwise? Was it the micro switch inside the chamber behind the VU meters? Was auto-load unlocked so the machine could run films but not load it?

Threading a GS 1200 will take some practice but once you learn it is quite easy to do.

Use a test reel so that if it chews up the print is not a big deal.

Auto-load the print but do not attach to a take up reel.

Press the stop button and turn off the power.

Take a few minutes to study the film path. Learn the size and threading of the top loop. Observe when you open the gate the claw is set on two sprockets (protruding out). See that below the sound head drive roller the film is deep into the soundhead cavity area but before the bottom sprocket.

The soundhead cavity will move to the bottom loop when play is pressed. So when you set the film in the cavity – you are making the bottom loop.

It is noted I have tried this several times. And it will help for comfort if the projector counter top is 42 inches off the floor. Also make certain to stand facing the operating side 100% to have full access to all channels to the film path.

Pull out enough film off test reel and send it to the floor but stop when the end is about 5 inches from the floor.

If your auto-load fails but the projector can run otherwise – this CAN save you and allow you to put on a show. If the auto-load fails in the locked position then it is a more serious issue.
