  • Eumig Mark 610d framing lever stops motor

Hi forum! First post here. I'm just getting into 8mm/S8 projection and have been looking at the forum for the last few weeks to guide my search for a projector. I picked up a used Eumig Mark 610d, unfortunately it wasn't running when it arrived but I was able to replace the belt and get the thing humming again. But a new pair of issues emerged!

I find that when I push the framing lever to correctly align the image, it stops the motor. If the projector is set to 18fps, I can push the framing lever almost all the way back towards the takeup reel before the motor stops. If I set the FPS to 12 or 6, it takes less of a push from forward to back for the film to stop advancing.

Apologies if I'm not explaining this well–I've shot a video to demonstrate what I'm experiencing:

Here's a second shot with the cover off to show the operation of the mechanism when the issue occurs:

The lever feels a bit stiff, but I don't know if that's how the action is supposed to feel.

The second issue: the lamp (which was installed in the projector when it arrived) was turning on when I first attempted to operate the machine, and I was able to run a reel through it and view it. I did catch a whiff of what i assumed was burning dust when I ran it. When I returned home with the machine after working on the belt in my office, however, the lamp was no longer functional, and I also don't see standard/super or 18fps lights illuminated when I run it (though the pilot light does still work).

Do we think the second issue is just a case of an old lamp going dead after being fired up for the first time in a few decades, or is the issue connected to the motor issue? I don't want to buy a new lamp for the machine if it's just going to burn out immediately due to another underlying issue.

I am not a very technical person, and have limited experience repairing machines--hopefully it's not a very involved problem... Either way, I'd appreciate any help the brain trust here can provide!
