You know I'm a trial by error type of guy. But any recommendations for an anamorphic lens for 8mm. The lens I've purchased is a 1 to 2 stretch lens. I think for best rrsults, instead of lining it up with the projector lens, I should just look through it instead! 
The optics are ok. I've split the mechanism but not the elements. They're rings are fast.
Oh. It's a Bell & Howell Design 335B and my serial is 54335 and as is weighs 6lbs 11oz or 3kg.
I will have ago at projecting a CinemaScope Super 8 throught it and let you know how it goes.
