This is how things were done with things like model aircraft until maybe the 2000s.

it sealed the fate of many a cheapy S8 camera!

I’m not so bold. I’ve mounted small Super-8 cameras on larger-scale model trains: I still have a tour by train throughout the house where I grew up.
