Hello UK folks,
This post isn't intended to endorse a company (or vice versa), but rather to share my experience and see if there's a cheaper alternative service.
I'm trying to buy some vinyls in the UK and will be shipping them to Bulgaria. I used the Royal Mail calculator and took their max box (46 x 46 x 61 cm, weighing 15 kg) and found 103 GBP. I entered the same dimensions into Parcel2Go, and the price was only 21.82 GBP via FedEx (https://www.parcel2go.com/quotes?col...46|46|61"e).
On the other hand, I'm also trying to order a Citronic Twin DJ deck (a vintage deck that was very popular in the UK in the 1980s), it's very heavy and bulky. The dimensions are possibly around 150 cm x 50 cm x 20 cm and weigh 31 kg. The price I found in Parcel2Go was 43.96 GBP via UPS (https://bit.ly/Parcel2GoBulgaria). Royal Mail cannot ship this size.
The funny thing about these two examples is that I thought I'd get a cheaper price using the respective websites (FedEx and UPS)... but that's not the case, they're more expensive.
For my vinyl order, I'll definitely go for Parcel2Go... because the 21 GBP is very cheap, and the dimensions and weight of the records are always the same. At 15 kg, I can fit 75 records.
But for Twin DJ decks, I still look for a cheaper solution... because the dimensions vary depending on the model. If the package is larger than the one indicated above, the price would jump straight to 152 GBP!!.
Could you share if there is another cheaper option for shipping heavy items abroad from the UK?
Thanks
