At yesterdays game I was speaking afterwards to Connor coach and some parents about "rugby" in general, now that's a subject out here you have to be careful what you say New Zealand is the only country in the world, where losing to Australia, which I should add does not happen very often, puts this country into a state of mourning with flags flying at half mast for almost week...just kidding... well sort of .

Anyway I happened to mention that my darling wife who, is usually a very "quiet" person was "ordered" of the paddock /field years ago at one of Steven's games after telling the ref he needs to put his glasses on. Now I am Scottish, and Yvonne is a New Zealander so I tend to be more careful. After telling Connors coach this story yesterday, I got some smiles coming my way. Connor coach told me at the start of this session he had to warn his sister not to do the same thing.

Anyway back to the subject of NZ rugby, when I worked for a airline and was on the roster for tarmac, I got a wave from a pilot one day of a ATR72 that was just about to leave, upon boarding and walking through the cabin to see what was going on in the front, I was confronted with the captain in his seat, he looked at me, took his headset off and said...now what did I think of the Scotland All blacks game?. He wanted to talk "rugby", after a quick chat I said we better get going. I left through the cabin where all the passengers by this stage were seated. The cabin attendant asked me if all was ok?, I replied that it was and left, I could not say we were talking rugby.

My one wish in the almost 50 years living in NZ, was that Scotland would win just one game against the All Blacks, not much to ask don't you think, just one

Oops Gone of topic but I think you get the idea,

Now last week I watched this brilliant French film called "Jo's Boy" where as you know the French can be as one eyed about the game of rugby as New Zealanders. There is a scene where the kids father, who initially is a pain in the neck calls out.....Come on! Ref! Get some glasses on.....and that reminded me of Yvonne who had said almost to the same thing years go. So if you don't mind sub-titles, its a brilliant film and anyone into sports should be able to relate to it .
