Hi all there, esp Brad Miller and the moderators....

I have a strange experience that might be only on my computer. But if you also see the same, please explain me why.

I just visited one member's profile and click on her recent posts.

I got this web page's result on my computer.

You can see that she has posted 5 topics to date.

The first topic that she started was "Three Stooges Wanted"

She is the poster number 0, or in other words, she initiated the topic.

When I visited that topic, none of her name was mentioned and most particularly that topic was started by Chip and she didn't make any reply at all.

Why is that? Is it only because of my computer.

I'm baffled ...

But I've seen stranger but more joyful things, like my son Devin never peeing on me, but peeing twice on grandma! Hah!! (both her daughter (me wife) and I were quite amused, and oh, granny has a wealth of colorful metaphors!

Me virgin ears!

Winbert, I see what you mean. I am getting the same results. When you click on "Elizabeth McAlpine's" profile and then click on her recent posts it shows "The Three Stooges Wanted" as her first post, but she is nowhere in the post. This could only mean one thing...Chip is leading a secret life as.... Elizabeth McAlpine! [Eek!]

Chip, your handsome man, keep it that way. [Big Grin]

(we better stop this, Chip may start to suspect that were onto his secret!! [Razz] )

I like the way you work it (yo-diggety!)

I'm sorry Winbert, but I'm a hopeless idiot!

Now where is me brother, Keith, who MUST weigh in on Dan's pre-occupation in womens underwear!

And .. just what is wrong with being preoccupied with ... ?

mmmm, just love that double knit cotton!

I dont have an answer to this except to say that it may be some form of file corruption.

When I did a search it came up with the following topic: Sankyo Dualux 2000 Super 8 Projector. When I click on that topic it takes me to the 3 stooges wanted topic originated by Chip.

Yes its strange but these things happen and I cannot offer any other explanation.

Thanks Kev,

When I did a search it came up with the following topic ...
That's exactly my second issues: "search function does not work properly"

Let's see step by step:

1. I always hide a deliberate misspelling word or a strange/new vocabulary in my post in order to help me when I am going to re-visit that particular post using the search function.

2. See this topic I made in 2007. I wrote a word "Narcism".

3. Use forum's search function here and don't forget to choose "8mm forum" on Search Forum box (because the topic was written on 8mm forum).

4. You will not see any result.

So, we cannot always find some topics we need.

Can Brad be involved in this matter?

regards,

Winbert,

I'm wondering if the search engine is thrown off by the way you placed the misspelled narcism in quotation marks in the body of the original post. I've done a few tests and the search engine occasionally has problems recognizing words placed in quotes or parenthesis. If you did a search for Indoneasia or segmented, both of which are in your post, the topic does turn up. Or possibly the search engine has an aversion to incorrect spelling.

Doug,

I was also suspicious on quotation marks thing. But if we also search using "narcism" (with quotation mark), there will be also no result.

But I have once found that I didn't find one post that I made, although I was very sure about a misspelled word that I made (without quotation mark).

I think there is a limitation of the search engine in this server.

But let's see what google's search engine can do in this forum:

Google's search engine result for "narcism" in 8mm forum

You can see that google's search engine can find the exact topic!.

(ps: for you who don't know that you can find a particular world in a particular website by putting "[keyword] site:[URL]" in the google's box).

Your comment please,
