Hello,

Few days ago I have bought Eumig 824 off ebay in very good condition. Unfortunately it didn't came with Super 8 sprockets and gate (regular 8 only). I already checked eBay for those with no success.

Any advice where I can find those parts?

Hi Marek...It appears I just bought a Eumig 824 with the opposite problem than yours. It has the Super 8 gate...but not the Standard 8. We are in a dilema [Frown]

Bolex in Switzerland has Eumig spares but I have no idea if they have theose specific ones and, more than that, they sells them at gold prices. http://www.bolex.ch/NEW/index.php

And I need the standard 8mm sprockets for the 824! I have both sets of pads.

Standard 8 sprockets are pernamently attached to projector and should be revealed once you detached your Super 8 sprockets.

True Marek...but you still need to replace the Super 8 gate with the standard 8.

I haven't gotten my projector yet Marek to see what is and is not missing....But if you don't care about Standard 8 and I don't care about Super 8...then maybe we can make a trade [Smile]

Actually I care for both.
I have found a 824 on eBay in Austria that is seemingly broken (not sure what is wrong though as my German is schlecht):
www.ebay.co.uk/itm/222497839840
I wonder if we can scavenge this one for parts.

Here is what Google translated [Smile]

quote:
Eumig 824 Super 8 Filmprojektor

Defective to hobbyist - defective to handicraft

There is no reliable data on the existing damage - the worst of the worst

The article can have missing parts - the pictures show the orig. Article and scope of delivery

It actually is in better physical condition than the one I bought [Smile] But the "worst of the worst" is pretty funny, but not encouraging [Confused] The big question is does it have the gates and sockets we need. Perhaps you can ask the seller Marek... Worth a try [Big Grin] [Wink]

ALSO...I just got notice that my projector has been shipped. I should have it in 3-4 days.

Judging by the other items for sale it appears that this German seller knows nothing about film projectors. Therefore, any answer from him may not be definitive.
Anyone bidding on this auction is taking a big risk that all necessary parts are indeed included with the Eumig.

Perhaps the seller would be willing to take a picture of where the gates and sprockets are stored in the projector?

I received my Eumig 824 projector today. It was in much better cosmetic shape than I expected. However.. there's good news and bad news. The good news is that my gamble paid off and the seller was mistaken. It does have both S8 and R8 gates and sprockets. So I'm good to go in that respect. The bad news is that the sound volume is very low and continually fluctuates up and down. For this issue I'll open another thread to discuss.

I wish you the best of luck Marek. Hopefully you'll find the parts you need.

Good news, Janice. I am sure with your expertise that you'll soon get the sound going.
Might only be dirty contacts somewhere or perhaps the sound heads need a good clean.

Marek...I doesn't look like any are for the 824 unfortunately.

Here's what the Super 8 Gate and Sprockets look like:

Unfortunately, the items you have found are not suitable for the Eumig 824. They are for earlier models.
Janice has shown a photo of the correct parts for the 824 to run Super 8.

What happens if you use the standard gate for super 8 ? Will that just mean a smaller picture or is it impossible for the film to pass through the gate ?

I tried that Dominique ... [Smile] The film wouldn't even enter the gate.

Thank you for your answer, Janice. I suspected something like that since the sprokets are shifted. I wonder why people didn't let the part of the gate they were not using at the place that was designed to stock it.

On earlier 800 series Eumigs there were places to store the unwanted change-over parts.
The sprockets and the top spool adapter live in the side cover on special pins. The gate assembly lives in a slot above the lamp.
The above often means that a second-hand projector comes complete with all necessary parts.
But the 824 has done away with such fixings. Although the spare gate lives in the side cover, the sprocket teeth rings and the spool adapter do not. They live on a small panel which can easily get lost if the owner does not do as Eumig suggest, and that is to stick the panel somewhere on the projector.
I am lucky that my 824 is still complete in its original box with the polystyrene pieces top and bottom. There is a small space for this panel to be stored. This way it cannot get lost.
