I recently acquired a Standard 8 print of the wedding of Princess Margaret (1960). It is Warner/Pathe newsreel. Since the film must be 40 years old, I was surprised to find that the colour was perfect. No fade at all. As good as Kodachrome from that period. The credits gave 'Color by Technicolor'. If this is true then the lack of fade is understandable, but did they really use Technicolor for 8mm?

Tim,
Follow this link (I hope!) for info on the Technicolor dye transfer history. Enjoy! http://www.technicolor.com/aboutus/his1960.html

Thanks, Ricky. That covers S8, but this film is R8, probably late 1960. The mystery remains!

At one time they did use Kodachrome for printmaking in 8mm and 16mm. Are you sure it is not a Kodachrome print?
