This title was released in 1994 when the super 8 was resurrecting.

This movie has those repeatable factors:

It has fast actions
It has jokes
It has the stars
It has booming sound
It has good picture and shooting location

But it was never printed on super 8?

What do you think the reason Derann or CHC did not do that?

The length of the film may have been a little prohibitive (141 minutes), but I agree, this would have been a great super 8 release. Derann even released a trailer to this. I'm not sure when their contract with 20th Centure Fox ended, but it may have been too late by the time this movie would have been eligable for a super 8 release.

With me being the no 1 super 8 film Arnie fan I totally agree it would have been a superb release, but as James says quite a long movie for making negatives. Ouch the cost! Jamie Lee Curtis was in boiling mode in this film and oh to have seen a 70mm print of it projected at the time wow zowee. Anyone ever see it in 70?

I like this film too. Every S8 trailer I've seen for this title suffered from poor sound quality.
Yes Lee, Ms Curtis certainly raised the blood pressure [Smile] [Roll Eyes]

Yes 140 minutes is quite long, but as this movie has a lot individual segments, it can be made several nice cut downs. For example when Arnie sneaking into the house or when he chase the bad guy until he rides a horse to the top of the hotel, etc, etc

Or the most interesting ones when the bad guy was chasing Arnie to the Jet Fighter!

That will be like 10 - 15 minutes cut down.

cheers

this title was released in cinemas under the universal logo,(as per the trailer) so it no chance of being released on 8 unfortunatly

That certainly explains why it was never released as a full length feature on super 8 right there Tom. I don't know why I was thinking it was a Fox release.

But it could have been released as an extract, as I don't think those were fully studio-endorsed as it is. As mentioned, the movie has so many self-contained segments that would have worked well as an extract.

According to the imdb below:

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0111503/companycredits?ref_=tt_dt_co

This movie was relased under Fox studio.

In the UK it was distributed by UIP (United International), I think this is the same like all James Bond movies.

Universal only owns the rights for distributing DVD after 2003 (see 10 rows from below).

So I guess there was no copyright issue at that time should Derann or CHC want to release as we knew James Bonds movie was owned by UIP too.

thats weird as the trailer states it as a universal release & the 8mm trailer is the original release one. All the last title bits also state a universal release, that website is often wrong, it would certainly have made a great 2 or 3xc400 release. [Wink]

I wonder why Derann didn't release the sequel to "Romancing The
Stone", "The Jewel of the Nile", which was a very popular film.
