Ok, well not really.
I just came across these clippings which I cut out of the local TV guide way back in 1982 and thought I'd share them.

I remember being very dissapointed as we didn't have a color TV but did watch Gorilla at Large on our BW set. We didn't have cable either so any "ghosting effect" was normal for me anyway.

This was available on tape and it wasn't that good. It was anaglyph. You didn't miss much.

I have a lot of them on BETA. There were some pretty good bits in between the actual films. Magician Harry Blackstone Jr. performed some spooky magic tricks (in 3-D) while hosting THE MASK. Harry Anderson (pre- Night Court) and his wife Leslie hosted REVENGE OF THE CREATURE. Zacherly hosted GORILLA AT LARGE with some of his classic bits during the film. The effects weren't that great, but I loved watching them! DYNASTY, THE MAD MAGICIAN, and John Wayne in HONDO were also shown. They're the ones that come to mind. [Smile]

I used to have this kind of disreputable friend...he was kind of...earthy.

Back in the 1980s Jaws-3 (in Threeee-Deeee!!) was on the tube, and Pepsi ran a promo where you sent in (something like)300 bottle caps and they'd send you 3D glasses to watch the movie.

-Eric got very excited. Pepsi was one of his three main food groups (Pepsi, Cigarettes, Beer paid for by other people). He probably had half the caps he needed behind his parent's couch.

One fine day I walked in and there he was, downstairs watching a 2D porno wearing the glasses hoping his Mom didn't barge in. He swore the glasses made a difference.

I lost track of Eric around the time I met my wife. Actually, I think it was her idea.

I too have fond memories of that early eighties 3-D revival.
I was able to see both House of Wax and Creature From The Black Lagoon on the big screen. I remember House Of Wax gave you less of a headache and looked very good.

Hilarious, yet true!

Eric was always an interesting guy to be around. He was kind of like Alfie Doolittle: completely amoral. This is not to say he didn't live his life by a set of rules, it's just that he kind of made them up after the fact to keep himself in the right. This maneuver kept his conscience clearer than your average Saint's.

He was the black hole of lent money. Soon after it was in his hands he decided a favor he'd done months before was now "work" and this was now "payment".

He helped me rebuild the front suspension on my car and because he put the parts together wrong they became damaged and the work had to be done again with replacement parts. I griped it and he said "It was your fault! You asked me to help!"

(To his credit, he didn't "charge" me that time...)

He rationalized smoking a certain controlled substance while at the wheel because "The Cops'll pull me over if they see me with a beer".

I haven't heard from him in about fifteen years.

Basically the possibilities I see are two:

1) So reformed he'd be obnoxious to be around.
2) Dead

Anyone remember Elvira's "Movie Macabre" airing "Mad Magician" back in '82? I still have the vinyl of the "3D TV" song they performed on the show. When I met Cassandra at a convention years later, I told her about the record, and she said, "Wow, you're old!"

I replied, "Me?!?!?"

This Eric was an interesting dude indeed. I think we've all known someone like this at one point, but your right - it's better not to know............

Kurt You met Elvira? yeah that's cool.
We had her Movie Macabre show here too but don't ever remember them showing The Mad Magician though, every second week seemed to be "Frankenstein's Castle of Freaks"!!

Unfortunately it's not nearly as funny as her first film. Richard O'Brien from "Rocky Horror" played the Vincent Price role from "Tomb of Ligeia" in it.

Speaking of Vincent Price, she had him on as a guest a few times. He was funny and charming. She called him Vinnie the P.
